PRESS RELEASE DIGITA AND CINIA
Network operator Cinia and TV and radio network operator Digita have signed an agreement to house a network hub in Digita’s data centre facilities in Helsinki.

Cinia’s international network utilises
the C-Lion1 submarine cable system, providing a direct connection from Finland
to Western Europe. The connection is reliable and the fastest on the market.

“We
are very proud to be able to offer the long-term lease of Digita’s reliable and
robust data centre facilities at the Helsinki radio and TV centre for the
network, which has huge overall significance for Finland. Located at the nerve
centre of Finnish ICT communications, our server facilities are purpose-built
for this type of hardware, which is critical to our security of supply and
require highly specific conditions for secure operations,” says Juha-Pekka Weckström, CEO of Digita.

“All key ICT network hubs will be
connected to Cinia’s international network, in Finland and in Europe. This data
centre is one of the most important hubs in Helsinki, hosting a large number of
national and international operators plus FICIX, the biggest Internet exchange
point (IXP) in Finland. The agreement between Cinia and Digita offers these
operators a direct connection to the submarine cable system and Cinia’s
international network,” says Taneli
Vuorinen
, Senior Vice President, Cinia Group.

Cinia’s marine cable will considerably
expand the international connections of data centres which choose Finland as
their location. New data centres are currently being constructed or planned in
multiple locations across Finland, and are expected to dramatically drive
employment and growth in Finland. In terms of data security, Finland is a
hospitable environment because it follows European data protection legislation
and supports the needs of cross-border service platforms. Rapidly growing cloud
service markets increase demand for data safe havens. The submarine cable
provides a connection to Cinia’s cybersafe Lioncloud service. Finland is a safe
and secure environment and a hub for increasingly advanced connections.
