Digita and Soficta team up to create new kinds of IoT solutions. Soficta produces the energy efficiency system Aistio, which in turn utilises the LoRaWan network and wireless sensors by Digita.

Aistio will be introduced
comprehensively for properties managed by the City of Salo. The system is used
to monitor the energy consumption of properties in real time. Last summer,
Digita installed a LoRaWan base station at the Salo IoT Campus, and its network
can also be used for this purpose.

“Digita is our main sensor
supplier, and our cooperation has kicked off very well. We have received the
right service whenever necessary. A particularly positive aspect has been that
if a customer is located at an area without coverage, Digita has promised to
supply a network for the site,” says Sami
Metsänperä
, CEO of Soficta.

”Digita provides the IoT
network and sensors to Soficta. Our IoT network offers the opportunity for
carrying out short and efficient IoT pilot projects in various industries. Our
LoRaWAN network and IoT platform can flexibly accommodate pilot studies,” says Mika Flinck, Head of Sales at Digita.

“The high quality of our
network and terminal devices enable the performing of varied IoT experiments in
an uncomplicated manner,” states Flinck.

City of Salo committed to reducing energy consumption

The City of Salo has committed
to a binding agreement on reducing its energy consumption. Through the IoT
network and Aistio system, Digita and Soficta enable the achievement of the
city’s stated goals, as all efforts towards energy savings revolve closely
around comprehensive data collection.

Aistio also features an indoor
climate conditions monitoring system that is used to identify discrepancies and
issues related to air conditioning. Sensors connected to Digita’s LoRaWAN
network collect data that is then processed in the Aistio system and used to
monitor energy consumption, sparing the need for traditional on-site
measurement visits.

“Aistio provides information
for building automation systems, and this data can be utilised in property
management. The sensors collect information on matters such as heating, water
and electricity consumption as well as humidity and carbon dioxide levels. In
order to achieve savings, you must first know what is being consumed,” says
Metsänperä.

Aistio identifies the existing
conditions of the property and helps in reacting to increased humidity levels
or ventilation problems, among other matters. The project will initially
include 185 properties in Salo. In the future, many novel operations models are
expected to develop around IoT, as the technology can be applied very
diversely.
