Digita has completed the channel numbering change—households with terrestrial TV reception can now redo channel scan

Published: 19.11.2024

Digita’s work related to the channel numbering change has been completed on November 19, 2024 at 3 p.m. Households with terrestrial TV reception can now redo channel scan, if needed. The order of the terrestrial TV channels has changed so that the high-definition, or HD, versions of free-to-view TV channels are listed first in the list of channels under positions 1 to 20. Standard definition (SD) channels have been moved to channel positions 21 to 39.

We recommend that households with terrestrial TV reception do the following after the channel number change:

If your TV receiver has not already automatically scanned the channels or the channel list is missing channels that should be visible in your area, you must rescan the channels. All TV channels will continue in the portfolio. However, after the change, the following tv channels operating under a short-term programming license (One Way TV, onniTV ja Iskuri.net) part time tv-channels (Eveo, Hero, Alfa) will only be shown in high definition.

A channel scan is easy to do, but the way it is started varies from device to device. Most remote controls have a MENU button, which opens a menu listing either SETTINGS, INSTALLATION, or SCAN. You can find detailed instructions for performing a channel rescan in your TV user guide. The new order of channels after the update is shown below.

The HD channels will only be visible if you have a modern antenna system and an HD-capable TV.
If your current TV is not HD-capable, you may need to upgrade your TV or digital tuner to be able to watch all the channels.

If the channel rescan fails, reset your TV to factory settings. You will find instructions for performing a factory reset in your TV user guide. Most TVs scan for channels automatically after a factory reset. Depending on the software, however, you may still need to perform a manual channel rescan.
