Tips from an expert: How to perform a channel rescan to get your terrestrial TV channels to show correctly after a channel numbering change

Published: 11.11.2024

Digita will be carrying out a channel numbering change on its nationwide terrestrial TV network as part of the transition to the HD era between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. During the work, there will be disruptions in TV broadcasts throughout Finland. The channels in multiplex E (MTV Sub, Liv, Jim, Alfa, One Way TV, Iskuri.net, MTV Max) will experience disruptions of between 10 and 30 minutes in duration, while interruptions in other multiplexes will be shorter. Below you will find our expert’s answers to the most frequently asked questions and tips for getting TV channels to show correctly:

 1. Your channels have not disappeared in antenna TV; they have simply been renumbered

If your TV does not scan for channels automatically, you will need to perform a manual rescan once Digita has completed the channel numbering update.

2. Perform a channel rescan (antenna TV households only)

Performing a channel rescan is easy, but the process depends on the make and model of your TV. Most remote controls have a MENU button, which opens a menu listing either SETTINGS, INSTALLATION, or SCAN. You will be able to find detailed instructions for performing a channel rescan in your TV user guide. The new order of channels after the update is shown below.

The HD channels will only be visible if you have a modern antenna system and an HD-ready TV. If your TV is not HD-compatible, you need to get a new TV or digital box to see all channels.

3. If the channel rescan fails, reset your TV to factory settings

You will find instructions for performing a factory reset in your TV user guide. Most TVs scan for channels automatically after a factory reset. Depending on the software, however, you may still need to perform a manual channel rescan.

4. If you are still having trouble, contact Digita’s consumer help desk Digita Info
