Wiiste Oy utilises Digita’s IoT network in it’s construction-industry solutions

Wiiste Oy, who specialise in measurement systems for the construction industry, and Digita Oy expand their fruitful cooperation beyond Finland’s borders. Wiiste’s construction-industry IoT solutions utilise Digita’s LoRaWAN-based IoT network to excellent effect.
The Wiiste Wireless system, developed by Wiiste, is a comprehensive solution for temperature and moisture monitoring on building sites and in construction projects. The wireless IoT sensors that are installed in concrete or other structures send data via the LoRaWAN network directly to the Wiiste Relia cloud service, where the customer can monitor a situational overview in real time.
“Using IoT sensors, we can monitor things like the conditions during construction, moisture in the structures and the drying of renovation and repair sites. In addition to monitoring during construction, the solution also allows for that monitoring to continue throughout the lifecycle of the property. This creates cost savings for the customer, strengthens risk management and improves the quality and efficiency of construction as a whole,” says Wiiste CEO Aki Böök.
“In addition to solutions for concrete structures, we have also launched a brand new IoT moisture sensor for wooden structures, which can be used to digitally ensure that the elements of wooden structures remain dry all the way from the factory to the construction site and to completion. The IoT wood moisture sensor has been developed together with Stora Enso and has passed all the required tests in well-known construction projects,” Böök says. “Now we are redirecting our attention to the international market with these solutions, and it is great to know that our trusted partner Digita is able to use their networks to support us in this endeavour.”
“Digita offers a comprehensive IoT infrastructure for Wiiste’s solutions both in Finland and abroad. The LoRaWAN network’s signal passes through concrete and other construction materials and is thus able to offer real-time data for the different stages of construction. The battery-powered sensor is installed in the structure during, for example, concrete pouring and it sends data at regular intervals directly to Digita’s network,” says Digita’s Director of IoT Services Ari Kuukka. “We are also very happy to have the opportunity to be part of making the wooden construction process of Wiiste and Stora Enso a possibility,” Kuukka rejoices.
“Today, LoRaWAN technology is in widespread use throughout the world. There is global demand for Wiiste’s solutions, and we are happy to be able to offer a network solution for these sensors around the world,” Kuukka says.
