Yle HD channels are now available throughout Finland

Yle’s television channels can now be viewed in high definition anywhere in Finland, regardless of distribution channel.
As of 1 June 2020, HD channels will also be available on terrestrial television throughout the country, and local news will also be broadcast on terrestrial television on Yle TV1 HD. Yle’s HD channels were already available from cable television and IPTV providers, the satellite-television provider Canal Digital and Yle Arena.

It is also Yle’s mission to act as a trailblazer for the Finnish television sector, and expanding the availability of HD channels to the entire country creates the opportunity for other Finnish television companies to expand their own HD offerings,” says Yle’s CEO Merja Ylä-Anttila.
The terrestrial broadcasts of Yle’s HD channels are moving to Digita’s UHF network starting on 1 April 2020. Digita’s terrestrial network, which makes broadcasting HD television possible, covers the whole country.

The expansion of high-definition broadcasts on terrestrial television has been a long time coming, and we are happy that we can now offer Yle’s high-quality television content in HD to every terrestrial television user in Finland. We hope that the industry’s HD transition will be accelerated by this move,” says Digita’s CEO Vesa Tykkyläinen.
To receive Yle’s HD channels, a house needs to have a UHF antenna directed towards a station broadcasting Digita’s multiplex B and a DVB-T2 Antenna Ready HD receiver. Digita Info can help with any reception problems you may encounter.
